Visa Assessment and Passthrough Fees for US Merchants

This is a volume fee assessed on all Visa debit transactions. The fee is a percentage of all debit transactions processed. This is a passthrough fee and not a markup charged by a processor.

This is a volume fee assessed on all Visa credit transactions. The fee is a percentage of all credit transactions processed. This assessment increased from 0.13% to 0.14% on January 1, 2019. This is a passthrough fee and not a markup charged by a processor.
|Acquirer Processing Fee (APF) – Credit|
This is also referred to as Visa Authorization Processing Fee – Variable Credit
The Acquirer Processing Fee (APF) Credit is charged on all US-based authorizations on credit card transactions. The acquirer processing fee applies to all Visa credit card authorizations for businesses based in the US, regardless of where the card is issued.

The Credit Voucher Fee (Credit) is charged on all refund transactions processed on a credit card.

The Credit Voucher Fee (Debit) is charged on all refund transactions processed on a debit card.

The Base II Credit Voucher Fee (Credit) is charged on all refund transactions processed on credit cards in the US.

The Base II Credit Voucher Fee (Debit) is charged on all refund transactions processed on debit cards in the US.

Also referred to as Visa Base II System File Transmission Fee
The System File Transmission Fee is charged on all Visa transactions and is applied in addition to other assessments, such as the APF.
|Transaction Integrity Fee (TIF)|
Also referred to as the Visa Debit Integrity Fee
The Transaction Integrity Fee is charged on transactions processed on Visa non-PIN debit and prepaid cards that do not meet Interchange CPS requirements.
|Fixed Acquirer Network Fee (FANF)|
FANF is a fee charged monthly that varies based on keyed vs. card present, number of merchant locations, and processing volume.
|Kilobyte (KB) Access Fee|
Visa’s kilobyte fee is a network fee that applies to each authorization submitted to be settled on the Visa network.
|Misuse of Authorization Fee|
The Misuse of Authorization Fee is charged on Visa authorizations not followed by a matching settled transaction (or for authorizations are not properly reversed when they are timed out or canceled).
|Zero Floor Limit Fee|
The Zero Floor Limit is charged on settled transactions that don’t have a corresponding previously approved or partially-approved authorization. This fee is charged for settlement of transactions submitted that do not have a proper authorization.
|Zero Dollar Verification Fee|
The Zero Dollar Verification fee is charged on Zero Dollar Verification messages (approved and declined), such as the verification of the card account number, address verification (using AVS), Card Verification Value 2 (CVV2) and Single Message System (SMS) processed Account Verification authorizations. The Misuse of Authorization Fee is not charged on these requests. The fee is paid to verify cardholder information without submitted a transaction to be settled.
|International Service Assessment Fee (ISA)|
The International Service Assessment Fee is charged on U.S. based transactions processed on a card issued outside of the U.S.
|International Acquirer Fee|
The International Acquirer Fee is also charged when the International Service Assessment Fee applies. The International Service Assessment Fee and International Acquirer Fee usually simultaneously apply to the same transactions which makes the total international fee on these transactions 0.85%.
